چکیده
To investigate the use of vibration control systems in fatigue damage mitigation for welded beam-to-column connections steel high-rise buildings, cases both a single connection under constant amplitude cyclic loading and multi-connections building stochastic wind, with without fluid viscous damper (VFD) tuned mass (TMD), are discussed respectively. The finite element analysis assessment conducted so that effect, effect technical parameters conditions high-cycle low-cycle all discussed. results show VFD TMD effective local along structural displacement cases. generally has better than it starts to take instantly external loading, but causes phase difference responses, while situation is quite opposite. stress similar synchronous trends damping can be designed based on either them. should smaller exponent larger coefficient braced installation form, using optimal parameters. optimized layout plan VFDs placed between two large relative velocity higher floors these near targeted connection. negative mainly stems from insufficient lateral support force direct may result limited support.

Passive Vibration Control for Fatigue Damage Mitigation in Steel Jacket Platforms
Considering the stress cycles in the joints and members due to wave induced forces on offshore platforms, fatigue analysis is therefore one of the most important analyses in the offshore platforms design. Although most of the steel jacket type platforms are designed and located in areas with relatively high ratios of operational sea-states, for maximum environmental events, would have acceptabl...
متن کاملPredicting Low Cycle Fatigue Life through Simulation of Crack in Cover Plate Welded Beam to Column Connections
This paper presents a low cycle fatigue life curve by simulating a crack in a cover plate welded moment connection. Initiation of ductile fracture in steel is controlled by growth and coalescence of micro-voids. This research used a numerical method using finite element modeling and simulation of ductile crack initiation by a micromechanical model. Therefore, a finite element model of a cover p...

This article considers the seismic behavior of beam-to-column joints in steel frames for different bolt arrangements by using of finite element modeling. As the most important beam-to-column joint type, the beam-to-column joints with end-plate is chosen for the analysis. Four different specimens have been analyzed. These models had some differences such as bolt arrangement and the presence or a...

متن کاملDamage Avoidance Design Steel Beam-Column Moment Connection Using High-Force-To-Volume Dissipators
Existing welded steel moment frames are designed to tolerate substantial yielding and plastic rotation under earthquake loads. This sacrificial design approach can lead to permanent, and often irreparable damage when interstory drifts exceed 2%. The experimental seismic performance of a 50% full-scale damage avoidance designed structural steel beam-column connection is presented. The beamcolumn...
